Dear BROOKE, Hey, I just accidentally learned how to turn the cap lock on. Cool! Thank you for once again hitting me with what I needed to hear, right when I needed hear it.I can't wait to someday take one of your classes, and meet the person that inspires so many.

I realized just recently how fear controls me and keeps me from creating. The fear that my every day life and my household will fall apart if I don't spend every waking moment planning and doing household chors.... sounds kind of silly but it is a real problem for me. It keeps getting worse and I will definitely use one or more mantras from here to try and get my life on the right track again. I know I have to create to have some meaning in life, it is the air that I breathe.

Amazing post, Brooke. I love it.

I have two mantras that I love, which both touch on becoming conscious / aware of the possibilities that exist in our field:

"Your first power is your choice as to where you put your greatest attention." ~Leland Purvis

"The most important skill you will ever develop as an entrepreneur is the ability to take action on the things you cannot see." ~Maria Gamb

When I get stuck, I often remind myself that my perception of a situation can *always* be expanded beyond the superficial walls I've built for myself. The bigger picture is already there ~ it's simply a matter of becoming aware that it exists. This shift in awareness can open countless creative doors. I like to imagine myself inside a circle, then all kinds of crazy and beautiful things ~ things that weren't a part of the original plan ~ outside that circle. The circle represents *my reaction to* hitting an obstacle in my creative process, and for the moment, I can't see beyond the circle's wall. But I'm the one who put it there ~ no one else did ~ which means I can also remove it. The trick is to move forward from a space of curiosity and adventure, not frustration, and just organically allow the "failure" to uncover a hidden treasure.

(I actually have a sketch in my notebook for an image called "The Land of Stuck," which I hope to release this Spring.)

Ola!
All of the answers that you got to your beautiful post and surely your post itself respond wonderfully to what so many of us are going through at the moment. I ve just returned from Japan where I stayed with a potter. The place where he lives is remote and its one of the most quiet places I ve ever been to.

However, back where I live I feel that its comparison that steals our joy. This is no big news but I so intensely feel it right now that I d like to share it here talking of fear and failure. Dwelling in our little places where self-consciousness reigns and assessmanet runs high we live in a society where we have shallow frameworks for calculating worth both others and ourselves. The more important it is to connect, spread love and open up.

Love how you want to grow your own community and surely I d like to be part of it.
My favourite words at the moment are:
I am the master of my ship
I am the captain of my soul.
:-)
