White Wall Wednesday: Episode 9

White Wall Wednesday: Episode 9

Oh my loves, so much is happening this month! I am grateful that September has rolled around. I haven’t quite figured out how I’ll handle it all, but I am excited for it! This month is my Promoting Passion Convention (Sept 27-29) and I’ll be in Florida and Peru before that. I follow it with another month of travel in October. I’ve known all year that this was going to be an insane two months but I think they are going to be transformative and amazing, too. After next week’s White Wall Wednesday video I’ll have to go on a little hiatus, but it’s just a wee break!

This week I wanted to keep things simple and go behind the scenes of two photo shoots: one on the white wall and one on a darker sheet that I taped to said white wall!

Let me know which image you’d like to see in more depth for next week’s WWW!

  1. Both are such cool photos (of course). I think I want to know how you faked the water more. Although I would like to know how you do the skin piercings. I’m sure you will make both look so easy.

It’s amazing how such an odd photo of yourself turns into a masterpiece. How do you keep coming up with this stuff?!!

  2. I’d love to know how you create realistic elements in your work, especially with the photo of the branches. I’d love to understand you make the branches go into the skin believably and what techniques you use to have the branches be in the skin. Thanks Brooke <3 much love for your creativity.

  3. I was actually planning on asking you if you can go into detail on how you do “breaking the surface” images of both water and earth. I love the effect, but I have never been able to really pull it off. So that would be my vote. See you at the convention, and thanks you for all the videos!

    1. That is a good one! I have trouble getting it to look good at all when I want something coming through a surface. especshly breaking through a “hard” surface.

  4. I love these, Brooke! The water image is my favourite – I’d love to know how you make it look like you’re immersed in the ocean!

  5. These images are SO beautiful <3

I'd love to know what your thought process behind the images is.. how do you come up with the ideas? What inspires you?

I feel like my imagination is.. broken right now. I don't know how else to put it. I feel like I can't, for the life of me, come up with a fine art piece ๐Ÿ™

    1. I do some visualization, this is something I learned in one of Brooke’s online classes.
Sit down somewhere by yourself, and just daydream by imagining yourself on a cloud. Now drop off the cloud, you have the time between the cloud and the ground to decide where and when you will exist. Now live out the story, go wherever you want with it. Keep doing this for at least five minutes a day, you will notice a theme that is constant, this will be the theme of your next piece of work.
Daydreams, guided like this or ones that just pop into your head (like mine do while I work) will always show you your inner self, and if you don’t like the themes of your daydreams, then you need to work on changing your thoughts.
Also look at the work of other artist, painters, sculptors, musicians, carvers, and of course photographers. Not only look at them, study them. I have developed a a great respect for all art ever since I started photography, and can look at any work for a long time. Getting truly lost in it.
I hope this helps you. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Just wanted to jump in and say that your comment actually is a great tip to have in mind, it is a good way to come out with new ideas ๐Ÿ™‚
for me is basically blanking my mind then thinking of the what i came across lately and how I make them “visual” in my own vision – could be emotions, music instruments, nature, sky, textures, industrial items/ places and of course – soundtrack music (as it almost every-time put me on a “different place” while listening to, because soundtracks are mainly built as a “ground” and “atmosphere” for, say, games or movies).

wow I didnt think I’ll write this much now and it just felt right and flew on the “digi-paper” here ๐Ÿ™‚
thank you *fir BMX* and *Amani* for provoking thins from me ๐Ÿ™‚

        have a great weekend!

  6. Another great video!
Sounds like it will be an incredible trip, make sure you take lots of travel photos for us.
    Have fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I so love this series Brooke and I can’t wait to meet you at your PP convention! I would like to see how you are creating the image in the water and how you create the bubbles. Thank you!

  8. I’m interested to know how you join the branches to the body in a realistic way. Also, is there a way we can post a photo that has been inspired by your white wall blogs? Love them!! Super helpful in my own creative composite journey- you have no idea!!
