New Exhibitions for March

New Exhibitions for March

I have some new exhibitions opening in the month of March and I wanted to share in case you can make it. I will be attending one of them (boo! wish I could go to each!) and if you do go, snap some pics for me!

Art Gallery AFK: Staging and Revelation, Group Show
Lisbon, Portugal
March 7-April 12

This show is going to be an absolute delight, this I already know…and I’m definitely not talking about my own work, but the work of so many artists that I adore, like Daria Endresen. I wish I could go…I’d be totally starstruck!!!

Harrington Street Arts Centre: IF I COULD FLY
Kolkata, India
March 7-12

Completely near to my heart, this is, finally, the exhibition of the pictures I shot in India last year featuring the women from the shelter home benefiting survivors of human trafficking. Also featured are the self-portraits the women did to tell their own stories through art. I will be attending this exhibition and doing a live self-portrait demo as well.

The Project Room, Group Show
Chicago, IL
March 1-31

I’ve had my work in The Project Room for the last year and now we’re collaborating on a group show for the month of March. I really love this gallery and I wish I could be there in person! I have two pieces represented there and I hope you enjoy them!

  1. Since I live in the Chicago area I will definitely check out The Project Room and see all of your beautiful work – what a bummer you won’t be there, I would love to meet you in person someday!! Congrats on all of the fabulous and global exhibitions, you truly are a remarkable and gifted artist Brooke! 🙂

    1. Ahhh I WISH we could meet! That would be such an amazing day for me – you are so kind and loving and I wish I could give you a hug!

  2. It would be amazing to come to your shows and workshops if they weren’t so far away from me (in TN). Ha! Come to the University of Memphis sometime!! Thats where i am currently studying photography! That would be incredible! ha! And meeting and chatting with you would be a treat as well! Duh! Haha!

  3. That’s so great, I think it’s beautiful what you’re doing to help those girls in India. How do you feel when a exhibition is coming? Have you ever considered exhibiting in Latin America?

    1. Thank you so much! Ahh exhibitions are so exciting! Expensive and time consuming but always worth it to know that someone is appreciating the art enough to take a chance on it. I’d love to exhibit in Latin America – just have to take a look at some galleries 🙂

  4. Congratulations! They look amazing. I wont be able to go to any as they are a little to far from me, but I will be thinking of them sending you some loving. Mucho Amor!

  5. So happy for you <3 I am busy putting together my first real exhibition (with 3 fellow local fine art photographers – all totally awesome in their own right), so I now know how much work and money goes into putting an exhibition together… but also how rewarding to see ones images printed and framed. Thank you for sharing this information… I can see the names of some other artists that I would love to look up 😉

  6. Congratulations. So much going on. I am in Chicago and absolutely will check out the show at The Project Room. I will be sure to bring my camera so I can get some quick pictures for you of your work. 🙂

  7. What great news! It was with tremendous joy that I read that you would expose here in my country, Portugal. But, reading the rest of your post that joy was decreasing, because you could not be present. How awesome would it be to meet you personally! I do not live in Lisbon, but in a town further north, Aveiro. However, if I can, I’ll certainly try go to Lisbon to see your work. And look at your work certainly I’ll feel your presence. Thanks for sharing this news, brooke.

  8. Congratulations Brooke for these upcoming shows! I discovered your work in the last year and I have been a BIG fan ever since. You ARE a source of inspiration on so many levels…

I myself am striving to dedicate as much time as possible to photographic art, something I committed too just a few years ago. I just found out I’ll be having a show next summer in Montreal, where I’m from.

Something I’m curious about, and please forgive the technical aspect of my question, is how you go about participating in shows you can’t attend. How do you send your work? Do you send prints my mail and the gallery there takes care of framing them? Then what happens to the work that hasn’t been sold once the show is over? Who covers the costs of printing, framing and transport? High quality fine art prints are very expensive to make. Framing costs are mad. How do you manage it all?

So far, I’ve never even tried submitting my work outside of a perimeter I can drive to. I realize I’ve probably been creating limitations that aren’t necessary. Your insight and experience would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Exciting news! I have seen your photos in your book (Inspiration-love it!), online and on the screen in your classes.Seeing them in print one day would be fabulous. The India project you did with Blossomy looked amazing. Congratulations!

  10. I can not wait until the day I get a piece in a gallery, its a huge dream of mine and by listening to your encouragement and taking all your fabulous tips to make it happen I truly believe in myself and that I can do it! thank you for always inspiring me!
